What this application is
gws is a command-line tool that lets you work with Google Workspace services — Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Tasks — from your own computer. It is designed for personal use by the person who installs and runs it.
gws is not an official Google product. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Google. Google Workspace and the Google Workspace service names are trademarks of Google LLC.
What it does
The tool calls Google Workspace APIs directly from your machine to carry out the operations you ask for, such as reading or sending mail, listing or managing Drive files, updating calendar events, or reading and writing Sheets, Docs, and Slides content. It runs locally: you authorize access with your own Google Account, and the tool performs only the commands you run.
How it runs
- It runs locally on your own computer as a command-line program.
- It connects directly to Google APIs; no publisher-operated server receives your Workspace data or OAuth tokens.
- Your credentials are stored on your machine in the tool's local encrypted credential storage.
